Reading ALL BLOCKS - 3/17

We are in the home stretch to the end of the school year.  Our 4th quarter has started today.  This means that each student in Blue Pod received their new AR goal for the last quarter of 5th grade!

To help students achieve their AR goal this quarter we broke down their goal in reading today.  They took their goal and divided it into four.  This allowed them to see 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.  That means this quarter there will be four AR grades to help students manage their reading.  Any students who do not reach the required percentage by the deadline will be spending their recess time reading in my classroom until they are caught up.  Below are the deadlines for the goals.

April 2nd ~ 25% of your goal should be reached
April 23rd ~ 50% of your goal should be reached
May 2nd ~ 75% of your goal should be reached
May 23rd ~ 100% of your goal should be reached

Homework:
~ AR - Get started today!!!

Special Offer - DUE FRIDAY!

Limited Time Special Offer

Just a reminder: if they had a zero on their progress report I sent home they may come in during recess to make that up (this is mainly the center work), but they would only receive half credit.  We discussed how half credit is better than a zero.  I told them it was their choice and they needed to be responsible.  Also, if students received a 0*M on their grade sheet they may make that up as well and receive half credit.  All make-up work will be due Friday, March 7th.  After that their grade may not change.

Extra Credit is also due Friday!

  • Read the story on pages 494-497
  • On page 499 pick 1 project to do.  Your project should be on a separate sheet of paper NOT in your reading notebook.  Be CREATIVE!!!

SS - 3/4

Today is social studies we talked about the investment that we would be making for Rural AmeriTowne.  Students took a risk assessment and compared it to the one they took at the beginning of the year.  We then discussed which types of investments would be good for the type of risk taker we are.

Homework:
~ State Quiz Test on Thursday NOT Friday!
~ Library tomorrow - Bring books

Reading ALL Blocks - 3/4

Today students finished up their center work from last week.  The focus was working on author's purpose, comparing and contrasting, and reading for a variety of purposes.  If all center work was completed, then students were given a chance to read and/or work on missing assignments.

are reading every single night. 20-25 minutes
