Today students worked on balancing their RAT checkbook.  We will be finishing this tomorrow!

Reading ALL Blocks ~ 5/12

Today students took their Spring MAZE (comprehension)test.  Afterwards we reviewed some key concepts of 3rd and 4th quarter.  Students then took a quiz on It's Our World, Too!  

Homework:

1. AR ~ you have this week to reach 100% of your AR goal.

Today students in groups 3 and 4 met for their last lit circle meeting.  While groups were meeting students worked on their center work.  This weeks focus was reading for a variety of purposes - telephone directory, main idea and supporting details, and reading a grade level text and taking an AR test to work on comprehension.  

Homework:

1. AR ~ You should be 75% of the way to your goal.  If you have not reached that goal a letter was sent home that needs to be signed and returned tomorrow.
2. Grade Sheets ~ some of you still need to get your grade sheet signed

SS ~ 5/7

Today students presented their Wax Museum to other baker students.  Students are looking forward to tomorrow night!

Homework:

1. Remember to bring your library books ~ tomorrow is the last day to check out books before the end of the school year.

Today students in groups 1 and 2 met for their last lit circle meeting.  While groups were meeting students worked on their center work.  This weeks focus was reading for a variety of purposes - telephone directory, main idea and supporting details, and reading a grade level text and taking an AR test to work on comprehension.

1. Groups 3 and 4 need to finish their lit circle books.  Don't forget to finish reading, do your job, and do your journal entry.  Journal Entry #4: Now that you have finished this book, would you recommend it to a friend?  Why or why not?  (5-7 sentences needed)
2. AR ~ You should be 75% of the way to your goal.  If you have not reached that goal a letter was sent home that needs to be signed and returned tomorrow.  AR Club will be meeting tomorrow during recess and after school.
3. Grade Sheets ~ some of you still need to get your grade sheet signed

Reading ALL BLOCKS ~ 5/6

Today we finished reading the story.  Then students worked on answering questions 3 and 4.  Afterwards they read an AR book of their choice or worked on missing assignments.  

Homework:

1. Finish questions 3 and 4 if you did not finish in class.  They need to go in the purple section of your notebook.  Don't forget to use SLAMS.
2. AR ~ you should be 75% of the way to your goal.  AR 75 club will start tomorrow. 
3. Lit Circle ~ All lit circle books are due this week.  You need to finish reading, complete job #4, and complete journal entry #4.  Journal entry #4: Now that you have finished reading the book, would you recommend the book to a friend?  Why or why not?  (5-7 sentences) 

Reading BLOCKS 2-4 ~ 5/5

Today students started a new story in reading It's Our World, Too!  Students looked up the definitions to their vocabulary words.  Then they had some time to work on using the words exactly as they were given in a sentence.  Afterwards students began reading the story with a partner.  

Vocabulary words:

     4. deliveries
     5. lecture
     6. publicity

Homework:

1. Finish vocabulary sentences if you did not finish in class.  Remember they need to be 7-up sentences.
